RUNNERS SERVICE LAB - Belgium running | 10 july 2010 During my career I've visited few places that changed the way I look at running shoes and work on them. Runners Service Lab is definitely at the top of this list. It is runners specialty store in BEVEREN (Belgium) but... a very unique one. The store was founded 30 years ago by Jempi Willsens, a runner with podiatrist and biomechanics background. Besides running stores Jempi is known for his FOOTSCAN system which was developed to measure foot gait cycle. Nowadays RSLab has 3 stores ion Belgium and offers professional service to all types of runners. Many top athletes from around the world come there to pick the right shoes and have correct insoles prepared. I've spent entire week there learning how to sell shoes in proper running store but what's more learning about functionality of shoes. Why stability is crucial, why soft shoes are really bad for runners and why footscan is a great tool to proof good/bad sole design.
