IWP - design exhibition and some thoughts footwear design | 19 june 2010 Until 5th of September Response Trail 16 is presented at the design exhibition in Warsaw. IWP has choose this product as an example of successful design. Although it's nice to have your design next to such projects like DYSON AirMultiplier in my opinion products were picked kind of randomly. Kathryn Best did her best to make one story from it and I have to admit her presentation was making a lot of sense. But when you walk through the exhibition it is more then confusing. Unfortunately. But, the most confusing for me was the feeling that Institute works like standard Business/Design Management consultancy. It doesn't look that their mission is to promote design. Based on this example their mission is to promote themselves as a business partner for companies that seek design innovation. The last - 21st CASE STUDY example from this exhibition is a product that they themselves come up with and designed. How nice... from all those examples of good design you have in Poland. I know in today's world everything has to be profitable and that's fine. But when you have Government and EU financed Institution you would expect this order - mission first than business not the other way around. My blog, my opinion.
