MICAM shoes | 5 march 2010

Micam is one of the most important shoe events in Europe. Takes place twice a year in Milan (March and September). It is mostly fashion and casual shoes oriented.

So below few photos from today. Unfortunately I wasn't able to photograph shoes that I really liked (for obvious reasons) but there were many things besides footwear that I found interesting. Just take a look…

old trick but works well on empty Fiera stairs.

unfortunately fair can be like this for many people who don't come here to buy but to look at shoes. Designers are not very welcome ;)

shoesalad.

something amazing. Bernard Fermond is a last maker from France and he does wooden shoes. Actual scale, solid wood, all handmade. Pretty pump.

2 or 3 stands had their worker there hand making the shoes or to be more precise stitching or putting details on upper pieces. I always stop for a minute and watch. Shoemaking can be beautiful.

Barker has it's 130th anniversary this year. Quite a heritage. It was a very classic and luxury looking stand.

Example of goodyear welt construction, with wooden shank and cork paste. Piece of art when it's done.

Upper starts with plain calf leather (right) and it's the cream finish that gives the value and unique look.

And women shoes:

It was simply outstanding. Shellys English brand is coming back and it's coming with style, design and great story.
This girl was promoting MIss L Fire brand though. Simple concept - shoes for pinup girls ;)
Made in China but with fantastic quality.

Dilly - brazilian brand that I found quite interesting.

and the last one... Sheme Paris. Quite cool.
